The North Valley From Twisp To Early Winters... and Beyond
The town of Winthrop, a thriving old western town which attracts thousands of visitors each year, is great, with the sounds of the Methow and Chewuch Rivers heard through out. Home to many year round and part-time residents. It’s a fun place with old boardwalks to wander...have a latte’...treat yourself to a good meal, or do some browsing in the many shops. There is a community barn available for performing arts and other events, a nice park with access to walking trails and Riverfront, and lakes by for swimming, boating, and fishing. This is a busy place April to November, while the North Cascade Hwy is open, but in the winter things quiet down and x-country skiers, snow mobilers, and locals enjoy the town services before and after their day time adventures. Traveling North of town on Hwy 20 towards Washington Pass you travel through the most beautiful Valley/Mountain vistas in the Northwest.  Wonderful sweeping views into wilderness areas, old ranches with green meadows and deciduous trees winding through the valley floor where  the River flows. Easy access to hiking, biking, and Nordic ski trails. The town of Mazama has a great country store and the Mazama Country Inn which offers good food in a lovely setting. Just a couple miles further north and you’ll find the new Freestone Inn Resort with first class food and accommodations. Next stop is Early Winters and on to the mountains passes of North Cascades National Park.
